Clinical Acne Peel

This peel is the answer if you are tired of dealing with acne or impure skin. Deborah Stone, the creator of Botaniko´, developed this acne treatment for her clients and from her own personal experience with acne. Professional peels are needed once per week for 6-12 weeks. The purpose of the peel each week is to remove the accumulation of oils and bacteria contained within the surface and subsurface layers of skin. Once this cycle is complete, acne can be managed so that your skin can always look great! (60 minutes)

Skin Renewal 2 - Designer Peels® Medium Exfoliation

Skin Renewal 3 - Designer Peels® Deep Exfoliation
Designed to provide complete epidermal rejuvention in approximately seven days. During this skin renewal process, patients' skin generally eliminates most damaged and dysfunctional skin cells from the epidermis. This will cause stimulation and migration of new skin cells throughout the epidermis resulting in new, fresher, healthier-acting, younger-looking skin. (60 minutes)

Obagi® Blue Peel

What skin type and condition is this effective for?
Patients who have loss of elasticity, hyperpigmentation, large pores, acne scars, and comedomes would benefit from this peel. All skin types and thicknesses are safe to have this peel after completing 6 weeks of obagi nuderm condition and enhance kit prior to the peel to prep the skin. The consistency and preparation of the skin prior to this deep peel is very important for maximum results and the prevention of hyperpigmentation and scarring. This peel is for patients who want a fast procedure that has a strong solution and desire dramatic and permanent results. The continued use of the obagi nuderm condition and enhance system will contribute to maintaining the results.

Expectations of an Obagi Blue Peel

Application: Depending on severity of skin condition and the patient's downtime, 1 to 4 coats of 20% TCA (tricloracetic acid) will be applied to skin. The application to the face and neck takes about 20 minutes, depending on the number of coats applied. The TCA is mixed with a blue base that slows TCA penetration for a more even and uniform distribution to the skin. This is a built in safe guard that helps ensure consistent results. A burning sensation is felt after each layer of the peel that lasts for about 2 minutes. TCA self neutralizes in about 2-5 minutes so after the peel is complete there is no discomfort.

A blue tint will remain on your skin for about 12 hours followed by tightness and peeling. In addition to your healing and maintenance products you will be sent home with a post blue peel cleanser. This cleanser will be used throughout the next 12 hours to remove the blue tint to your skin.

Starting on day 2 you will use your foaming or gentle cleanser morning and night followed by an even mixture of Obagi Action (moisturizer), Obagi Tolereen (0.5 hydrocortisone) and Obagi Healthy Skin spf 35 sunscreen. This will help with tightness and itching as the skin starts to heal and can be used throughout the day to ease and hydrate the healing process.

A 7 to 10 day follow up will be scheduled and at that time your nurse or aesthetician will give further instructions on continued Obagi Nuderm System use. Typically no sedation is required, though we understand that every patient has a different sensitivity level. 30 minutes prior to the peel the patient can take a mild sedative or extra strength Tylenol. If a mild sedative such as Lortab is taken, we ask that the patient has a driver or signs a release prior to leaving the medical spa.

Day 2-3
Bluish tint of the skin has resolved and skin feels really tight. It might even feel like your skin might crack when making expressive facial gestures. Face might also appear swollen. This is normal. Flaking or peeling usually starts around the mouth area and pink new skin is starting to show. Do not pick, peel or force the dead skin off. This can result in scarring. After your shower when skin is hydrated, some of the flaking skin can be gently rolled off, but do not force it. Follow with action and tolereen. Your skin tightness will increase throughout the day.

Day 4-7
Layers of skin will start to peel off, some peeling off in patches will leave the look of old and new skin. It is encouraged to refrain from makeup until skin is healed to prevent infection. Sunscreen is very important even if you are indoors. The sun rays still penetrate through windows and this new skin needs to be very protected to promote proper healing and your investment.

Day 8 and after
Skin looks much clearer and brighter. Brown pigmentation is a thing of the past and texture is smoother and firmer. A pink glow of new healthy skin has emerged and results will get even better over the next month. By now you are starting back on the nuderm condition and enhance system but not yet ready to use exfoderm or tretinoin.
